mbcn326l The amount of teens that text is unbelievably high. not only the fact that they text but the amount that they text. Texting has become an addiction to the majority of teens today. It is clear that they way that teens communicate is through their phones instead of in person. There is a lack of face to face communication with teens today. It seems that even if they are together in a group instead of talking with each other they tend to text people that they are not with. It can be almost annoying. I don’t believe that we can ever eliminate texting or even limit it. It is then paramount that teens are at least taught to respect the people and places they might be in. For example one needs to pay attention to the people they are with and not text while in a conversation. For a location, dont text while driving, places like church school. Texting becomes and overwhelming technology for teens. One of the biggest problems with teens and texting is they believe they can multi-task. So many times teens text while doing something else. In school if they text and “pay attention” you miss things and will not have the ability to remember long term what was taught. Or watching a movie with friends you could miss parts of the movie. The worst example where teens think they can multi-task is driving. It is now become a danger for others and not just a harm to yourself.

I can admit that I do text a lot but writing this article kind of makes me think about when i text and how much I text. I believe that the main thing teens need to work on is being respectful with the texting that they do. Take the time to enjoy the company you are with. Try not to be dependent on your phone. Maybe try not using your phone for an extended period of time and see how you feel. Just use the technology as a tool and not a toy to be addicted to.

The number of Tigers is seriously declining. In the past century the population of tigers has declined 95 percent. they could quite possible be extinct by 2010.

Some of the main reasons for the decline of population is the illegal hunting and trading of the animal skins and bones. Please stop the Tigers are freaking sweet animals!

The Coral Reefs are dieing and its because of the human pressures put on it. some of the issues are overfishing, coastal development and inland pollution.

http://www.globalissues.org/article/173/coral-reefs

At first i wonder well who gives a crap about the reefs, but in fact they can be important. The reefs protect the coastline on most tropical coasts. Also the amount of tourists and fishing would go way down causing a large loss of money.

The Micheal Jackson film made that was just recently released made about 2.2 million on the first night.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091028/ap_en_mo/us_film_michael_jackson_movie

A fun fact is that the studio that put together the film had to pay 60 million in order to have rights to all the footage shown of Jackson. This film is one of the last looks at Micheal Jackson career. But do you all recall all the media and the tv shows that did some kind of special on him when he died? Well i know i was annoyed by it after two weeks of it. well are you annoyed by it now or do you think this movie is alright?

And can you imagine the amount of money that he has made since he died?

The CS Monitor reports on two US helicopters crashing in Afghanistan this past Monday.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/1026/p02s04-usmi.html

The crash killed 14 US personal making it the deadliest day for Americans in Afghanistan for four years. The article discusses the importance of the transportation that the helicopters provide. They are not certain on the cause of the crashes but do know that it was a hostile environment that they crashed in.

Surprisingly the article spends m0re time arguing for the necessity of these helicopters than the unfortunate loss of lives. The article goes on to talk about the 500 million dollar investment to supply more choppers for use in Afghanistan.

Personally it makes more sense to me to spend money protecting the helicopters we have now instead of making a lot more. ACOPTERS_P1 What do you think?

In this article written by the CS Monitor a Korean scientist is prosecuted for faking stem-cell research.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/1026/p06s04-woap.html

After reading the article we learn that Mr. Hwang received large sums of money from the government on the basis of the advancement on human stem cell research. It turns out after receiving the trust of the government and being proclaimed a national hero he is prosecuted for fraud on this research.

The biggest thing that gets me is his motive for getting all the trust and all the money? Did he honestly believe he had the answer? Do you think his two year sentence was sufficient?
